Our intentions with this project are to help small merchandising businesses of every kind get up and running on the World Wide Web. We found that many of our friends and family member that had small businesses, even home-based businesses, weren't even attempting to sell on the internet because they were overwhelmed by the amount of understanding needed to sell online. Many of these sellers had web-sites that only provided information to potential customers. Some of our friends and family even thought that being online was a waste of time and money as they hadn't seen any tangible results. This project is for them and others like them in similar situations.

We are targeting the small company that wants to take control of online sales. Armed with the information provided here, the small business seller can manage their outsourced web-based services providers with confidence. Also, we talk about how the merchandiser can do many of these services themselves. Mastering the tasks discussed here will lay the groundwork for future growth in the virtual world. Ultimately, there will still be a need to use outside companies for many things. We review some of these companies and the software systems they use and make.
